Danville Oaks Rugby Annual Social
We were invited out on February 22 to play a fundraiser for Danville Oaks Rugby at the Danville Grange.
This was the Drop Daddies’ first time playing at the Grange. This place has some history! It was built in 1874. The Museum Of The San Ramon Valley writes:
For 40 years, the Grange Hall was the largest meeting room in the valley. It hosted meetings, speeches, plays, parties, church services and dances.
And apparently, based on a survey of youtube videos, this place was a big venue for metal back in the 90’s!
But for tonight’s party, the hall was decked out in a Mardi Gras theme, packed with revelers celebrating the League, playing poker, dancing, and eating Mexican food from Dos Coyotes.
We were on stage way past Danville’s 10pm noise curfew, and it was a rockin good time. New songs for the evening were David Bowie’s China Girl, and Cake’s Short Skirt Long Jacket, plus a little taste of Van Halen’s Jump.
