St Patrick’s Day 2017
This was our 5th year playing the St Patrick’s Day party at Norm’s Grill in Danville. It was a different kind of party compared to previous years– this time it was on a Friday night instead of Saturday afternoon, and it was off… the… hook!!
They had a nice stage set up for us in a huge tent with café lights strung up throughout. Ian was rockin his brand new kickass cherry-red drumkit, while John was playing without an amp for the first time (geeking out with his new Helix) – which was ideal, as there was no room on stage for it!
We’ve come a long way in the 5 years we’ve been playing Norms. The owner Justin came out half way through to introduce us, and gave us this amusing compliment: “These guys used to suck!” 🙂
We finally added a new Irish tune to our repertoire- U2’s “Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, and it turned out great, with everyone singing along. Another new one for the night was Stray Cat Strut- which is fast becoming one of our faves. Our buddy Dennis came up to sing Living After Midnight with us again – always a good time!
We played three sets, and the crowd simply wouldn’t let us stop. We played way past Danville’s 10pm noise ordinance curfew. Finally around 11pm, with the crowd chanting “Gary Gary Gary”, we busted out one last song- White Wedding, and called it a night.
Good times!
